The fake bomb threat was made from an unverified X handle. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) is investigating the matter which said, “A total of three planes received bomb threats. One IndiGo plane has been permitted to fly. The two other planes will get permission to fly soon,” as it told NDTV.
Before this, on October 11, an Air India Express flight had to fly around in circles at the Trichy airport for more than two hours after it developed a serious technical glitch. The Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah from Trichy developed a technical glitch shortly after the take-off. This forced the aircraft to circle in the sky for over two hours before landing.
When the aircraft took off at 5:30 pm, the landing gear failed to retract, or fold, as reported by the sources at the Trichy airport.
The flight circled till 8 pm. According to the aviation protocol, in such a scenario, the affected aircraft has to circle the air space to deplete the fuel before trying to land.
