Adani Power vs Bangladesh: In a major update on the controversy surrounding Adani Power and Bangladesh regarding power supply to the near-bankrupt country, it has been reported that Adani Group’s power company has resumed full power supply to Bangladesh. For context, Adani Power had halved the power supply to Bangladesh due to non-payment of dues from the country only a few months ago. Here are all the details you should note about the recent turn of events.

Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) Chairman Rezaul Karim was quoted as saying in a report by Navbharat Times that the company is making regular payments to Adani and taking electricity as per requirement. Although the chairman did not say anything about whether the previous dues have been paid, the power supply is seemingly restored.

Notably, Adani Power Limited had halved the supply to Bangladesh from its 1,600 MW coal-based power plant, located in Godda, Jharkhand in November of last year. Restoring the power supply will help Bangladesh prevent blackouts during the summer months. This summer, temperatures are expected to reach 38 degrees Celsius or higher.
