For train lovers and adventure seekers, here are the five longest train routes in India, offering unforgettable journeys across the country.The Vivek Express holds the title of the longest train route in India.The train connects north-eastern India with the southern part. It runs between Dibrugarh in Assam to Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu. It is being maintained and operated by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone.
Last year, the national transporter increased the frequency of Dibrugarh-Kanyakumari Vivek Express from bi-weekly to four days a week. Now, this train runs on all days of the week. The first service of Vivek Express was started on November 19, 2011. The Vivek Express offers passengers a comprehensive view of India’s diverse geography, from the lush tea gardens of Assam to the sandy shores of Kanyakumari.
The train has 57 stoppage points across its journey. These are — New Tinsukia Junction, Naharkatiya, Simaluguri Junction, Mariani Junction, Furkating Junction, Dimapur, Diphu, Lumding Junction, Hojai, Jagi Road, Guwahati, Goalpara Town, New Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, New Alipurduar, New Cooch Behar, Mathabhanga, Jalpaiguri Road, New Jalpaiguri, Kishanganj, Malda Town, Rampur Hat, Barddhaman Junction, Dankuni, Kharagpur Junction, Baleshwar, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road Junction, Brahmapur, Palasa, Srikakulam Road, Vizianagram Junction, Visakhapatnam, Duvvada, Samalkot Junction, Rajahmundry, Eluru, Vijayawada Junction, Ongole, Nellore, Renigunta Junction, Katpadi Junction, Salem Junction, Erode Junction, Tiruppur, Coimbatore Junction, Palakkad Junction, Thrissur, Aluva, Ernakulam Town, Kottayam, Chengannur, Kollam Junction, Trivandrum Central, and Nagercoil Junction.
