Hero MotoCorp is set to showcase an all-new adventure motorcycle, the Hero XPulse, at the Auto Expo 2018. Now a new report from carandbike.com reveals that the Hero XPulse will be powered by the same engine that powers the recently unveiled Hero Xtreme 200R. The Hero XPulse was first showcased at the EICMA 2017 in Milan, Italy. That said, the concept showcased at EICMA was far away from production and the India launch is still far away. Hero MotoCorp will first launch the Hero XTreme 200R in April 2018, while the Hero XPulse is expected to be launched by year end or early next year. Likely to be named as Hero XPulse 200, the adventure tourer will replace the capable, but under powered, Hero Impulse. The bigger engine on the XPulse will somewhat negate the inherent power deficiency the Impulse suffered from. Mallo Le Masson, Head – Global Product Planning, Hero MotoCorp, said, “The Hero XPulse is a concept and we’re still some time away from a production version of the XPulse. In terms of overall chassis, mainframe and engine, the Hero Xtreme 200R will be the base for the production version of the XPulse.” That said, the engine on the Hero XPulse will be offered with a different state of tune to suit the off-road characteristics of the bike.

The 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine on the Hero Xtreme 200R is tuned to produce 18.4 PS of max power and 17.1 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The Hero XPulse will get long travel telescopic forks upfront and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear. Braking responsibilities are handled by disc brakes on both the ends. The bike is also expected to get ABS as an option. With that being said, the XPulse Concept at the EICMA came equipped with round LED headlamps, a high mounted windshield, LED fog lights and LED tail lamps. As far as pricing is concerned, the Hero XPulse adventure tourer is likely to be priced around INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Hero XPulse will be the first adventure tourer in its segment and won’t have a direct competitor. However, the bike will be an affordable alternative to the Royal Enfield Himalayan and the upcoming BMW G 310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure.
