India’s largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki is all set to make the global debut of the Maruti Future S Concept at the Auto Expo 2018. In fact Maruti Suzuki is headlining the Expo with the global unveiling of the Futire S Concept. The Maruti Suzuki Future S Concept demonstrates authentic SUV proportions that are underlined by a flat bonnet, high ground clearance, raised A-pillar and higher seating position. The Maruti Future S Concept will become the first mini SUV to be launched in the A-segment. Owing to this, the car will not have any direct competition, but will compete with the likes of Mahindra KUV100 and the Renault KWID in terms of pricing and positioning. Speaking about the design, Maruti Suzuki has only revealed two design sketches, which partially reveal the front grille and the design silhouette of the side profile. That said, we can expect the car to get LED headlamps and a two-part grille at the front. The Maruti Future S Concept will be based on the 5th generation lightweight HEARTECT platform. Apart from being rigid and lightweight, the new platform also complies with future BNSVP safety norms that will be mandatory from October 2018. Some of the design highlights of the concept include a horizontal bonnet and raised A-pillar, giving the car a proper SUV like two-box design. We can expect the car to get two-tone machined alloy wheels, LED taillights and a sloping roof. Maruti Suzuki is yet to provide more details about the interiors of the car, which should be available once the car makes its global debut at the Expo. Maruti Suzuki has not revealed much information on the exact engine specifications of the Maruti Future S Concept. However, media reports suggest that the Future S Concept will be powered by petrol as well as diesel engines. The compact mini SUV is expected to get the 1.2-litre VVT K-Series petrol engine that is good for 83 BHP of power and 113 Nm of peak torque, while the oil burner will be powered by the all-new 1.5-litre diesel engine that has been developed in-house by Suzuki. Both these engines will be mated to 5-speed manual as well as AMT transmissions.
