With the new contenders hopping into the crossover segment, Hyundai India too seems to gear up for the rivalry in the space. As per the report from CarandBike, Hyundai will be launching the new avatar of Active i20 Crossover at the upcoming Auto Expo 2018. The updated i20 Active will sport few design changes which will be in-line with Hyundai’s new design philosophy. Talking more about the crossover, the new Active i20 will be based on the new i20, thus sharing similar design. However, the crossover-ish look of the car will be accentuated by roof rails, skid plate, body claddings and much more. On the exterior front, the new Hyundai Active i20 will carry a trapezoidal honeycomb mesh grille upfront, sweptback headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, new fog lamps, new tail lamps and much more. As far as the dimensions are concerned, the new Active i20 will remain similar to the current model proportion-wise remaining under sub-4m mark. It gets length of 3995mm, width of 1760mm and height of 1555mm along with wheelbase and ground clearance of 2570mm and 190mm respectively. Inside the cabin, the new Active i20 is expected to be more stylish and feature rich in comparison to the current model. Feature-wise, the crossover will sport a bigger touchscreen infotainment system, new upholstery, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility for the system. As far as the powerhouse options are concerned, the new facelifted Active i20 is expected to carry same engine options. The petrol unit will be a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol which can produce 83 bhp while the oil burner will be a 1.4-litre diesel tuned to make 89 bhp. Transmission duties will be carried out by 5-speed manual gearbox only. Once launched, the new Hyundai Active i20 will compete against newly unveiled Ford Freestyle, Honda WR-V, Toyota Etios Cross and others in the crossover segment.
