In some rather interesting turn of events, Tata Motors has emerged as the most anticipated car manufacturer ahead of the Auto Expo 2018. This is highly a result of the brilliant pre-expo marketing campaign by the company to tease its range of products in the lead-up to the expo. Such is the buzz around Tata Motors that the consumers and media persons are equally waiting with baited breaths to witness the company’s ‘IMPACT Design 2.0’ philosophy. Tata Motors has some of the most interesting products and concepts lined-up for the Auto Expo. And the Tata H5 SUV (Harrier) is, undoubtedly, the most anticipated product from the company followed by the Tata X451 premium hatchback. The Tata H5 is an all new premium SUV that will rival the likes of Hyundai Creta, Jeep Compass, Honda CR-V and the Hyundai Tucson. Tata Motors is developing two versions of the SUV for the Indian market – the 5-seat Tata Q501 and the 7-seat Tata Q502. One of the highlights of the SUV is that it is based on the Land Rover Discovery Sport’s LS550 platform. The Tata H5 SUV will source power from the Fiat sourced 2.0-litre MultiJet II engine and will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. This engine will be available in two power tunes – 140 BHP/320Nm and 170BHP/350Nm on the Q501 and Q502 respectively. Another important product from the company will be the Tata X451 premium hatchback. The X451 will rival other premium hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Ford Figo and the likes. The Tata X451 will source power from the same 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel motors that power the Tata Nexon, and will come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. However, these engines are expected to be detuned produce around 90 BHP/150Nm and 90BHP/200Nm of power on the respective engines. The company might also introduce an automatic transmission on the car. The Tata X451 will be launched in India by the end of this year and should be priced between INR 4.5 lakh to INR 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata Motors will also be showcasing the Tata Tigor Sport and the Tiago Sport at the Auto Expo 2018. These cars will be powered by the 1.2L turbo-charged Revotron petrol engine that will come mated to a 6-speed transmission. Both the cars will get a sportier body kit, new interior trim and stiffer suspension setup. Also on display will be Tata Motors first sportscar, the TaMo Racemo. The TaMo Racemo is based on the company’s MOFlex MMS (Multi Material Sandwich) platform. The Racemo is powered by a 1.2L turbo-charged Revotron petrol engine that produces 189 BHP of power and 210 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. Apart from the above mentioned cars and concepts, the company will also showcase the Tata Nexon AMT variant, which will get a new 6-speed AMT gearbox. Tata Motors will also be showcasing six new electric vehicles and concepts. These will include the Tiago EV and the Tigor Electric. The company has also teased two new commercial vehicles that will be unveiled at the Auto Expo. Tata Motors will also be showcasing future mobility solutions.
