Japanese automaker Toyota has enjoyed considerable success in India, especially in the past decade or so. And it seems like it is picking up pace with a bunch of new products to showcase at the Auto Expo 2018 in New Delhi. Let’s talk a bit about what is coming our way from Toyota at the Auto Expo 2018. There is the Toyota C-HR or CHR, already available in some markets outside India and set to come to India sometime in 2018 or perhaps in early 2019. The new product should take on the Hyundai Tucson, Jeep Compass and Honda HR-V. And we cannot wait to see what this SUV comes packing with to take on the competition. The new car features the Toyota New Global Architecture seen in the Prius, and it will be the first TNGA-based product made in India. Another product coming up at the Toyota event is the Toyota Vios sedan. The Vios is basically the nameplate for the Toyota Yaris ATIV that is actually coming to India. It will probably be placed between the Toyota Corolla Altis and Etios, and may launch within a few months of the Auto Expo. According to media reports, the new Vios may feature the same platform as the Etios. Its chief competitors will include the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and the Honda City. Powering it will likely be a 1.5-litre petrol unit and a 1.4-litre diesel one. Toyota will also likely unveil the next generation of its Toyota Camry sedan, first seen at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. This is going to be the flagship sedan for Toyota in India, and therefore one of the automaker’s most important cars at the show. The car has been redesigned with funkier styling, a lighter weight and other changes. The vehicle will come with the hybrid power-train from the previous generation, but Toyota may also launch diesel and petrol variants.
