A Bengaluru court has framed charges against Kannada actor Darshan, his partner Pavithra Gowda and seven other accomplices in the Renukaswamy murder case. The case pertains to the alleged kidnapping and murder of Renukaswamy, a fan from Chitradurga, who was brutally assaulted and killed after sending obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda. The court’s decision to frame charges marks a significant step in the trial process. Darshan’s counsel had requested more time to inform his client about the charges, which the court considered.
According to the chargesheet, Renukaswamy was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered by Darshan and his associates. The police have collected evidence, including CCTV footage, call records, and witness statements, which allegedly implicate Darshan and the other accused. The investigation revealed that Renukaswamy had sent abusive and obscene messages to Pavithra Gowda, which reportedly angered Darshan and led to the murder.
The police submitted a 3,991-page chargesheet, detailing the alleged brutal torture Renukaswamy endured before his death. The next hearing date, when the trial begins, is November 10. On this day, the court will start examining witnesses and proceeding with the trial. According to the charges, Pavithra allegedly hit Renukaswamy with a slipper, while Darshan removed his pants and assaulted his private parts, ultimately leading to his death. The court also noted that some of the accused were allegedly bribed to take the blame. Despite the evidence, all 17 accused denied the charges, and the court proceeded with the formalities to confirm the framing of charges.
Darshan and Pavithra Gowda’s relationship has been a subject of controversy, with allegations of an affair and a live-in relationship. Darshan’s lawyer denies the claims, stating that Pavithra is just a friend and co-star. Darshan is married to Vijayalakshmi since 2003, and they have a son together. Pavithra had shared a post on Instagram celebrating 10 years of her relationship with Darshan, which was met with backlash from Vijayalakshmi. The couple’s relationship has been under scrutiny, especially after Pavithra’s posts and photos with Darshan surfaced online, fueling rumors of a romantic affair.
