Bengal Bypolls Result 2024 Winners List: The counting of votes for the by-elections in six Assembly seats of West Bengal have begun. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) is optimistic about a clean sweep, while the BJP hopes to capitalise on public anger over alleged corruption and the RG Kar Medical College case involving the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in August, which sparked statewide protests. Out of the six seats, Madarihat and Sitai are in northern West Bengal and the other four — Taldangra, Medinipur, Haroa, and Naihati — are in southern West Bengal. In 2021, five of these were bagged by the TMC, while the BJP won in one seat.
Trinamool Congress on Friday seemed confident of clinching a 6-0 sweep of the bypolls in Bengal, a day ahead of the announcement of results. BJP said it should win at least two seats — Madarihat and Taldangra. TMC state general secretary Kunal Ghosh said, “We are confident of winning the bypolls 6-0. We believe that people will respond to the TMC govt’s developmental activities across the state.” Ghosh also hoped for BJP’s defeat in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. “There is strong anti-BJP sentiment in these two states. I believe people will vote against them,” he said.
