After Prime Minister Narender Modi announced demonetization of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency in India from November 9th this year, the name Sonam Gupta and her being bewafa (disloyal) gained huge popularity and reports related to her were followed on national media. The fact that ‘Bewafa’ Sonam Gupta has beaten Indian athlete Dipa Karmakar, actress Disha Patani in the list of most searched person along with many other popular names such as Urvashi Rautela and Arnab Goswami, has left our minds blown. Disha Patani has been ranked fifth most searched person after Sonam Gupta and Indian Athlete Dipa Karmakar.

Demonetization of certain currency notes this year in India created an uproar and many event following it kept making buzz and it still remains one of hot topics in India. Sonam Gupta started trending on various social media platform and broke internet after images of Indian currency notes with ‘Sonam Gupta Bewafa Hai’ written on them went viral. Mistaken for a real person, soon it was realized that the name in mention is an imaginary person, which gave even bigger rise to the buzz. Following ‘bewafa’ Sonam Gupta in the list is Dipa Karmakar, Indian Athlete who represented India in Olympics 2016. As told earlier, Dipa has been ranked the fourth most searched person in the year 2016. Actress Urvashi Rautela, who will soon be seen in an item song ‘Saara Zamaana‘ from the movie Kaabil starring Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam, is the sixth most searched person in India of year 2016.

Other names making to the list are Indian businessman Vijay Mallya, actress Pooja Hegde, Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik and journalist Arnab Goswami.
