Chandigarh, May 8 (IANS) A bouncer was shot dead by unidentified people outside a famous temple in Haryana’s Panchkula district, adjoining Chandigarh, on Monday afternoon, police said.
The victim, Amit Sharma, was going to sit in his car outside a Shiv temple in the area when two young men approached him and fired at him from close range.
The temple is located close to Chandigarh’s boundary.
The assailants escaped in a vehicle in which other people were already seated.
Sharma was rushed to the Post-Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police officers in Panchkula district said preliminary investigation indicated the killing was part of a gang war.
The deceased bouncer was involved in a shootout in Punjab’s Mohali town, adjoining Chandigarh, last year.
