New Delhi: In a sensational turn of events in the Kolkata Rape and Murder Case, Suvendu Adhikari, the Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader has claimed that the Kolkata Police have tampered with the evidence that was collected from the scene of crime in RG Kar Medical College.

Suvendu Adhikari posted on X: “The following information that I have gathered from my various reliable sources might be germane for the purpose of Investigation undertaken by the @CBIHeadquarters:- 1. The viscera of the deceased victim Doctor has been changed by the @KolkataPolice in the name of Investigation; 2. The involvement of quite a few number of individuals in this heinous offence and on the place of occurance cannot be ruled out; 3. The blood stained items/objects have been changed subsequently and what is reflected in the seizure made by Kolkata Police are not the actual items/objects which can be well ascertained by DNA testing; 4. The wash basin has been replaced by a new basin; 5. After murdering the victim Doctor in some other corner of the premises, the body was shifted to the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College; I hope and trust that the CBI will also explore these angles during the course of Investigation as the perfunctory Investigation to hush up the issue was being directly monitored and conducted at the dictates of the Commissioner of Police, Kolkata.”

What Did Suvendu Adhikari Claim On August 9

Suvendu Adhikari had, on Friday, August 9 demanded a CBI inquiry into the death of a 31-year-old postgraduate trainee doctor and asked student communities to protest against the state government’s laidback response.

“Unconfirmed reports suggest signs of strangulation and traces of seminal fluid. This appears to be a clear case of murder, possibly involving rape. The case should be immediately transferred to the CBI,” he had said. “Instead of addressing the issue seriously, the State Government has formed an 11-member inquiry committee, which bizarrely includes some interns. It seems the government is either trying to cover up its negligence or is not taking this matter seriously.

Suvendu Adhikari Called On Students To Protest ‘Vigorously’ Against WB Government

“I urge the student community, especially medical students, to protest vigorously against the State Government’s complacent attitude. I will provide all the support necessary to ensure justice for the deceased student,” Suvendu Adhikari had said as there was immense anger and agitation among the medical and non-medical staff at government-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital after a semi-nude body of a post-graduate trainee (PGT) doctor at the said hospital with injury marks was found inside the seminar hall of the hospital in Kolkata on Friday, August 9.

The incident sparked a political storm in West Bengal with the opposition BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul demanding a CBI investigation and a repeat post-mortem by a Central Government hospital.
