Chennai/Thiruvananthapuram, May 16: The final phase of Assembly Elections 2016 is underway with polling in progress in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry. Voters will decide fate of candidates on total of candidates contesting on 140 seats in Kerala, 233 in Tamil Nadu and 30 in Puducherry. Election Commission postponed polling in Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu on alleged charges of ‘money distribution’.

The six-phase election began on April 4 with Assam and West Bengal going to polls. The second phase also featured the two states. West Bengal had a five-phase assembly polls ending on May 5. The southern states have a single-phase polling on May 16. The counting of votes in all the five states will be taken up on May 19.
