Chennai, May 25: A day after taking charge as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, J Jayalalithaa launched 16 more “Amma Medicals” all over the state. The newly launched ‘Amma Medicals’ will provide citizens medicines with 15 per cent discount on market price. Jayalalithaa also extended her pet project of ‘Amma Canteens’ which is a chain of low-cost eateries and launched 201 new canteens in the state. After being sworn in as CM for the fifth time, Jayalalithaa gave the official nod for five schemes worth over Rs. 2,000 crore. She also allocated Rs 1,000 crore for urban roads and Rs 100 crore this fiscal for a special scheme benefiting families with women as heads. Jayalalithaa took oath as CM after being convicted in in disproportionate assets case by Karnataka High Court. The High Court set aside the judgement of Special Court. The Special Court had found Jayalalithaa guilty in the case following which she had stepped down from the post of CM.
