Raipur: The Congress on Sunday released the second list of 17 candidates for the 2nd phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2018, the voting for which is scheduled on November 22. Earlier on Saturday, the party had released a list of 37 candidates for second phase of Chhattisgarh polls. A total of 72 constituencies will be contested in this phase. Also Read - More Nuanced, Compassionate Approach Required to Deal With Crisis: Rahul Gandhi on Lockdown



For phase 1 of Chhattisgarh Assembly polls, the party has already announced the names of candidates on 18 constituencies.



Earlier on October 22, the party had released a list of six candidates for the first phase of Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2018. The grand-old party also announced that late former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee‘s niece Karuna Shukla will be contesting against Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh from Rajnandgaon. The party had earlier announced 12 candidates for the Chhattisgarh polls.

The Congress had on October 18 released the first list of 12 candidates for the Chhattisgarh assembly elections. Eleven of the 12 candidates announced were on seats reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The party has fielded seven sitting legislators and five fresh faces for the 12 of the 18 seats that go to the polls for the first phase on November 12.

The first phase of polling is spread across Maoist-affected districts of Bastar, Bijapur, Dantewada, Sukma, Kondagaon, Kanker, Narayanpur and Rajnandgaon.

The counting of votes and results will be announced on December 11. The tenure of 90-member Chhattisgarh Assembly ends on January 5, 2019.
