Mumbai, August 27: The local railways in Mumbai will be operating a megablock on Sunday, August 28, for repair and maintainence work. Railway authorities undertake repair of tracks, amongst other things. The block usually lasts for several hours on Sundays, from morning through afternoon or early evening. Central Railway’s Train Block is called Mega Block and Western Railway’s Train Block is called Jumbo Block. This Sunday, Central Railways announced a block on Harbour and Main lines, and the Western Railways announced Jumbo Block on the Western Line, the details of which are given below.

Given the rush on most days on all the local railway lines, most Sundays are chosen to operate the block so that railway tracks and over head cables can be repaired. Commuters are advised to check the schedule and then make their travel plans, to avoid any inconvenience. ALSO READ: Mumbai: Motorman jumps signal near Chembur; commuters protest local trains’ delay
