Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest film, Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is all set for its grand debut on August 14, 2025, and is already generating significant buzz. Meanwhile, ahead of its grand release, film has garnered praise from Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, who described it as an “ultimate mass entertainer” after attending a special screening. He also congratulated Rajinikanth on completing 50 years in the film industry, expressing confidence that the movie will resonate with audiences of all ages.
Stalin took to his X and wrote while congratulating Thalaivar Rajinikanth and the entire team of Coolie, “I am truly delighted to congratulate our Superstar Rajinikanth sir on completing 50 glorious years in the film industry. The anticipation for Coolie is evident in its impressive bookings, which have surpassed Rs 51 crore worldwide, with over Rs 37 crore from international markets and Rs 14 crore domestically, primarily from Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The film’s release coincides with the Independence Day weekend, and despite restrictions on early morning screenings in Tamil Nadu, shows in Kerala and Karnataka will begin as early as 6 AM.
Directed by master of storytelling Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie is an action-packed gangster drama featuring a star-studded cast, including Akkineni Nagarjuna, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Aamir Khan, Upendra, and Shruti Haasan. The film’s music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and editing by Philomin Raj. The storyline revolves around a mysterious man who stands up to a corrupt syndicate exploiting workers in a coastal port town ad has been filled with other elements as well. Fans expectations have now reached heights for Coolie as for the first time Nagarjuna will be playing role of an antagonist in the film which is definitely going to be a historic moment.
