Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government announced to provide free WiFi internet access to citizens on the basis of limited data usage instead of setting time limit.
New Delhi, May 25: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Delhi government announced to provide free WiFi internet access to citizens on the basis of limited data usage instead of setting time limit. The AAP-government will give free WiFi access that was its one of the popular pre-poll promises to Dehlities from February 2015. Earlier, the government planned to give free WiFi based on a time limit but according to the new plan it will be based on limited data usage. According to reports, the free WiFi facility includes browsing, use of social media, email and WhatsApp with no cost. The users will have to pay only for watching videos video chats and downloading content. The AAP-government is trying to provide minimum speed of 512Kb per second.
The Delhi government will invite the expression by request for proposal in June. According to government officials, 150 companies have shown interest. The project will begin in July while citizen can use free WiFi internet from February next year.
