Atishi, Bhagwant Mann To Meet Arvind Kejriwal In Tihar Jail; Sunita Kejriwal Denied Permission: AAP

AAP said Sunita Kejriwal had requested permission to meet her husband Arvind Kejriwal on April 29 (Monday), however, it was turned down by the Tihar jail authorities. 

Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been denied permission to meet her incarcerated husband by the Tihar jail administration, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said Sunday.

The party said Sunita Kejriwal had requested permission to meet her husband on April 29 (Monday), however, it was turned down by the Tihar jail authorities.

“Sunita Kejriwal was supposed to meet him tomorrow (Monday) but the Tihar administration has denied permission. The jail administration has not cited any reason for denying the permission,” a PTI report quoted AAP sources as saying.

Tihar jail authorities did not issue an immediate response to AAP’s accusations.

Meanwhile, Delhi Cabinet Minister Atishi is scheduled to meet Arvind Kejriwal on Monday while Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will meet him on Tuesday.

As per Tihar jail manual, only two persons are allowed to meet a prisoner at a time and a maximum four in a week.

Sunita Kejriwal to lead AAP campaign

Notably, Sunita Kejriwal is leading AAP’s Lok Sabha poll campaign in absence of her husband. On Saturday, Sunita held her maiden election Lok Sabha poll roadshow in Kondli area of East Delhi.

As per senior AAP leaders Sunita Kejriwal will spearhead the party’s electoral campaign and hold roadshows as her husband and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal remains lodged in Delhi’s Tihar jail following his arrest in an alleged money laundering case by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) linked to the purported excise policy “scam” case.

On Sunday, Sunita held another roadshow in West Delhi Lok Sabha constituency. She will also campaign for AAP candidates in South Delhi and New Delhi constituencies as well as in Gujarat, Haryana and Punjab, according to party leaders.

“The people of Delhi love Arvind Kejriwal. He is like a son and brother to them. His wife, Sunita Kejriwal, will come to seek blessings for him and the people of Delhi have come to bless him,” Delhi Minister Atishi said ahead of Sunita’s roadshow on Saturday.
