Delhi Lok Sabha Election 2024: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Sunday urged the people of Delhi to vote for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on May 25 so he would not have to go back to jail after the end of his 21-day interim bail period on June 1.
The AAP supremo, accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, held his first roadshow on Sunday in Moti Nagar, after being released from Tihar Jail on interim bail earlier this week. He was canvassing for AAP’s New Delhi Lok Sabha seat candidate Somnath Bharti.
Addressing the public, Kejriwal asked people to choose the ‘Jhadu (broom)’, the AAP’s poll symbol, on May 25 so he won’t have to go back to jail.
“I have to go back to jail after 20 days. If you choose jhadu (AAP’s symbol), I won’t have to go back to jail,” the Delhi chief minister said.

The AAP national convenor has been granted interim bail till June 1 by the Supreme Court. He has to surrender on or before 10 AM on June 2.
Attacking the BJP over the his arrest in a purported money-laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi Excise Policy scam case, Kejriwal claimed he was jailed because he worked for the people.
“They sent me to jail because I worked for you. The BJP does not want that work of Delhi people are done,” he claimed.
He further claimed that BJP would halt the welfare measures introduced by the AAP government in Delhi if he’s sent back to jail.
“If I went back to jail, the BJP would stop your work, free electricity, degrade schools and shut down hospitals and Mohalla Clinics,” he charged.
The chief minister also alleged that his insulin injections were stopped for 15 days inside Tihar jail.
He also asked people to vote for Bharti since he would be available for people in need even at odd hours.
Voting for all seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi will take place on May 25– phase 6, of the seven-phased Lok Sabha Election 2024.
