Two armed men came on scooter, touched victim's feet and shot him dead in Shahdara area on Thursday night. Attack occurred when family was celebrating Diwali. CCTV footage has surfaced.
New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from India’s capital, Delhi, in which a 40-year-old man and his teenage nephew were brutally shot dead by unidentified assailants on Diwali night. The victim’s 10-year-old son also suffered a bullet injury when two armed men opened fire on his father. The incident took place in the Shahdara area while the victims were celebrating Diwali outside their home.
How Did It Happen?
Akash Sharma, his nephew Rishabh and son Krish were bursting firecrackers on Diwali night when they were attacked around 8 pm. As per the victim’s family, the assailants, who came on a scooter, touched the victim’s feet, before they opened fire. In the CCTV footage, Akash and Rishabh, both wearing yellow kurtas, were seen preparing to burst firecrackers when the two accused reached and opened fire at them.
The 40-year-old man attempted to move inside his house, but one of the accused shot him. Rishabh was shot when he ran behind the accused.
Akash, Rishabh and Krish rushed to a medical facility, tragically, medical staff announced that Akash and Rishabh didn’t survive. Krish remained there under intensive treatment. As the police stated, they landed on the troubling scene by 8:30 pm, responding to an emergency call and found evidence of the violence. Akash’s wife recognized the offenders and highlighted that they were entangled in a long-standing land disagreement.
Personal Enmity
Cops suspected that the case seemed to be of personal enmity. According to DCP Shahdara Prashant Gautam, a police team rushed to the spot after getting the distressed call.
“Around 8.30 pm, we received a PCR call informing that there had been firing in the Bihari Colony and some people were injured. Upon reaching the spot, it was known that Akash, his nephew Rishabh and his son Krish were shot. Akash and Rishabh have lost their lives. In the preliminary investigation, we have found that five rounds of bullets were fired,” DCP Gautam told news agency ANI.
