Delhi Crime: A horrifying case of female incident has come to the fore in Delhi where a man killed, and later buried, his newborn twin daughters, mere days after they were born. According to the police, the man’s family were ‘unhappy’ with the birth of a girl child and in an insane bid to appease, the accused allegedly killed his newborn daughters and buried their bodies.
A senior official said the matter came to light when the slain infants’ maternal uncle came to know about the fate of his newborn nieces and filed a police complaint against his brother-in-law and this family.
Citing the complaint, the official said that a woman, Pooja Solanki, had given birth to twin girls at a private hospital late last month. On June 1, the mother and the newborns were discharged from the hospital and Pooja expressed her desire to go to her maternal home in Haryana’s Rohtak.
However, her husband Neeraj Solanki, reportedly took the infants from her and directed her to follow in another car. Then, the accused took a detour midway and allegedly murdered the newborns, the complaint alleged.
Pooja’s brother tried to call Neeraj, but his phone was offline, and later, he discovered that his brother-in-law’s family had allegedly buried the two infants, following which he filed a complaint with the police.
Police said an FIR was registered based on the complaint and bodies of the twin girls were exhumed following a court order, and later taken to the mortuary at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for a post-mortem analysis to determine the cause of death.
Neeraj’s father has been arrested in connection with the murder but the main accused remains at large and searches are underway to track him down, said an official.
As per the FIR, Pooja and Neeraj got married in 2022 and her in-laws often used to harass her over dowry.
Further investigation in the case is ongoing, the police said.
