Due to security reasons, Gate No. 5 and 6 are closed at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. All other gates are operational, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said.

New Delhi: Owing to security reasons, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday closed Gate No. 5 and 6 are closed at Rajiv Chowk Metro Station. However, all other gates remained operational, the DMRC said in a tweet.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation did not specify the security reasons.

Later, the DMRC posted another tweet informing that all the gates have been opened at Rajiv Chowk metro station.

In another development, over 500 Delhi Metro passengers have been penalised by authorities in the first week of June for violation of various norms, including those in place for containment of COVID-19, officials said today. Besides, flying squads are randomly carrying out inspections to ensure people adhere to Covid-appropriate behaviour, amid a spike in coronavirus cases.

For the unversed, flying squads keep an eye on passengers who flout Covid norms, like not wearing a mask or not wearing it improperly, or not following social distancing and other rules.
