Delhi Metro Services Affected After Heavy Rains in Delhi.

New Delhi: Amid waterlogging and traffic jams, the Delhi Metro services were impacted due to heavy rains in the national capital on Friday. Taking to social media X, the DMRC said that because of the heavy rains, entry/exit is closed at Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector – 25 Metro station. The DMRC also added that the shuttle service from Delhi Aerocity Metro station to Terminal 1-IGI Airport has been suspended. However, services on other lines are operating as usual.

“Due to heavy rains, entry/exit is closed at Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector – 25 Metro station. Also, the shuttle service from Delhi Aerocity Metro station to Terminal 1-IGI Airport has been suspended. Normal service on all other lines,” DMRC wrote on X.

Earlier in the morning, heavy rains lashed several parts of Noida, Gurgaon, and Delhi and incessant rains led to waterlogging in several regions across these areas, and in Safdarjung, near AIIMS.

Apart from Delhi Metro, the movement of trains was also stopped at the Hazrat Nizamuddin in the morning hours because of waterlogging. Similarly, train movement was also affected at Safdarjung railway station was also stopped due to waterlogging.

In the meantime, one died and several other were injured because of the incessant rains that lead to the collapse of the roof of T1 terminal at Indira Gandhi International Airport. In the incident, several vehicles, including cabs were damaged and flights services were also cancelled, and flights from T1 terminal have been temporarily stopped.

After the incident, airlines issued a press statement informing passengers that, because of the structural damage to Terminal 1 and adverse weather conditions, several flights had been cancelled and advised passengers to keep track of and confirm their flight status.
