Delhi Murder: An 18-year-old Meerut resident was stabbed to death in a failed roadside robbery bid in Uttar Nagar area of Dwarka in Delhi on late Saturday night. According to the police, the victim, identified as Monu, a native of Meerut in Uttar Pradesh, was out having dinner with his friend when the duo was waylaid by a group of thugs at around 11 PM.
A senior police said that Monu and his friend Monu Kumar were on their way to have dinner when they were halted by four to five men near a metro pillar. The attackers tried to rob the duo but they resisted leading to one of the accused stabbing Monu in the back before the assailants fled the scene.
He said that a call was received at Uttam Nagar police station at 11.15 pm on Saturday regarding a scuffle and the stabbing of a man, following which a team reached the spot and rushed the victim to the hospital.
Monu was initially taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital before being shifted to Safdarjung Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the officer added.
Police said they have registered a murder case against the unidentified accused and CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to identify the attackers and nab them at the earliest.
Further investigation in the case is underway, they said.
