Heavy rains in Delhi on Friday morning led to significant disruptions in power supply across various parts of the city. The power distribution companies (discoms) in Delhi reported that technical faults and precautionary shutdowns in waterlogged areas were the primary reasons for the power outages. Residents in Dwarka, Jangpura, and Laxmi Nagar experienced sudden power cuts as soon as the rain started. The rainy weather resulted in damages to power lines, poles, and other infrastructure in different areas of the national capital, necessitating immediate repair works to restore the electricity supply.

To prevent potential risks of electrocution, electricity supply was temporarily halted in many regions. Additionally, heavy rains caused waterlogging on roads throughout Delhi and even led to a portion of the roof of Delhi airport’s Terminal 1 collapsing.
