Delhi Sarita Vihar Flyover Closed: Repair work on the Sarita Vihar Flyover is set to kick off on June 10, following multiple delays in the past. The project will span over 60 days and will be executed in four distinct phases to ensure minimal disruption to the heavy flow of traffic between Delhi and Faridabad. Reportedly, the repair work, which was initially planned for June 2023 but got postponed, will now be carried out in a systematic manner. Each phase will involve partially closing one direction of the flyover while keeping the other half operational for vehicles. This move aims to alleviate congestion and inconvenience for the millions of commuters who rely on Mathura Road for their daily commute.

The repair work, which was last attempted to commence on May 1, faced setbacks due to the Lok Sabha elections. However, with the new schedule in place, authorities are optimistic about completing the project within the stipulated 60-day timeframe.

Delhi Sarita Vihar Flyover: Repair Work details

  • Phase 1: The half-lane between Ashram to Faridabad will be repaired.
  • Phase 2: The other half of the identical direction will be fixed.
  • Phases 3 and 4: After that, work on the highways leading from Faridabad to Ashram will continue.

Officials fear that the repair work could result in severe traffic jam, especially in locations like Badarpur, Sarita Vihar, Kalindi Kunj, Okhla, and Faridabad. To mitigate this, traffic police are preparing a list of alternative routes to help commuters navigate around the construction zones.

Last year, Mathura Road and its adjoining stretches faced traffic chaos for nearly two months due to work on the Ashram flyover extension.

Delhi Sarita Vihar Flyover Closed: Alternate Measures

  • The U-turn on Road No. 13A will be widened for commercial vehicles.
  • At least 10 marshals will help manage traffic.
  • Signage and lighting will guide commuters.
  • Heavy machinery won’t operate during the day to prevent traffic disruption.
  • No debris will be left on the road from repair work.

It is recommended that drivers make appropriate travel plans and remain informed about the most recent traffic alerts in order to prevent any delays.
