Sridesh Adhikari aka Shivesh Adhikari, the young man who shot himself inside the Delhi Metro station at Rajiv Chowk on October 1, has revealed to Zee News from hospital as to how and why he attempted suicide in such a manner. Apparently, Adhikari carried out this operation to expose the security lapse at the Metro station, especially since there was a possibility of a terror attack on October 2, Gandhi Jayanti.

The 22-year-old from Uttar Pradesh also revealed that he was familiar with the country-made gun he used for shooting at himself in the shoulder, as he was in the National Cadet Corps (NCC) for a year.

The shooting incident took place around 9.45 pm IST on Thursday and Adhikari was rushed to the RML Hospital where he was operated upon. (ALSO READ: Delhi: Man shoots self at Rajiv Chowk Metro station)

Whether Adhikari was right in carrying out his own operation like this, we don’t know, but he has definitely opened the eyes of the Delhi Police and the CISF about security. And we hope the government, too, wakes up now.
