Day after the killing, one of the accused, a 17-year-old boy who has now been arrested by the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, shared a picture of himself on social media with the caption “Kar diya 2024 me murder (finally committed murder in 2024)”.

A senior officer said Akhtar was found lying in a chair with oozing blood from his head inside the Nima Hospital, a three-bedded nursing home located in a narrow lane of Khadda Colony of Kalindi Kunj area.
As per the police, the Akhtar’s murder seems to be a case of targeted killing and the killers may have carried out a reconnaissance of the hospital on the previous night.
“Prima facie, it seems to be an instance of targeted killing, unprovoked as it was and involved recce”, the officer said, adding that initial investigation revealed the involvement of two underaged boys who had come to the hospital around 1 am for dressing.
One of them had a bandaged toe and had been to the hospital also the day before, it was revealed. After dressing, the two boys went inside Akhtar’s cabin. Some time later, night nursing staff Gazala Parveen and Mohammad Kamil heard a gunshot. Parveen rushed inside the cabin and found Akhtar lying in a pool of blood, the police said.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Southern Range) SK Jain said it was a targeted killing executed by two suspects, who have been identified. They met the compounder for dressing and later shot the Unani practitioner in his cabin.
“We have formed six teams and collected the CCTV footage from inside and around the nursing home,” Jain said.
“Akhtar was in the night shift. It is a suspected case of personal enmity but the actual cause will only be ascertained when the two boys are caught,” Jain had said on Thursday.
