A 35-year-old gym owner, Nadir Shah, of Afghan origin, was shot dead in a violent attack in the upscale Greater Kailash-1 area of Delhi on Thursday night. The incident occurred at around 10:45 pm, when Shah, a resident of CR Park, was attacked by two assailants on a motorcycle. Shah sustained multiple bullet wounds in the attack and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Nadir Shah, a well-known gym owner in the area, was targeted in what appeared to be a premeditated attack. The assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, opened fire on a busy road in the affluent neighborhood. The terrifying moment was captured on a nearby CCTV camera, which showed one of the attackers firing multiple rounds at Shah in full view of the public.

In the CCTV footage, Shah is seen talking to another man while standing next to a black SUV. Seconds later, a man in a checked shirt approaches and fires indiscriminately at Shah. The other man is seen ducking and running away even as the assailant keeps firing at Shah. The attacker then flees the spot on a bike.

Following the attack, the Delhi Police were alerted at 10:45 pm by a distress call. Upon arrival, officers found Shah critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by friends but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan said that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the law and an investigation is underway. The police are exploring all possible angles related to the murder. “Around 10:45 PM, we received a PCR call about a firing incident. We got the information about the firing incident in the E-block of GK (Greater Kailash). A person named Nadir Shah who runs a gym in partnership sustained bullet injuries,” DCP (South) Ankit Chauhan told news agency ANI.

“Further investigation is underway. Seven to eight rounds of bullets were fired. The condition of the victim is critical. We have formed 5 teams for surveillance and other purposes,” he added.

Claim of Responsibility:

Rohit Godara, a close associate of Goldy Brar, who is affiliated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for the murder in a social media post shortly after the incident. The motive behind the killing is under investigation.

Godara had also taken responsibility for the shooting incident that took place outside the home of Punjabi singer AP Dhillon on Vancouver Island in Canada earlier this month.
