Arvind Kejriwal Arrest: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail following his ED arrest in an alleged money laundering case, asked his Punjab counterpart Bhagwant Mann to tell people not to worry about him and make sure to vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in order to “save democracy” in the country.

Mann, who met Kejriwal in Tihar jail on Tuesday, told reporters that the Delhi CM’s health was fine, and he is getting his prescribed does of insulin as well as undergoing regular medical check-ups.

The Punjab Chief Minister, who met his Delhi counterpart in Tihar jail for the second time in a fortnight, revealed that the AAP supremo asked to vigorously campaign for INDIA bloc candidates and ask people to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha elections.

‘Height of hatred’

Talking to reporters after his meeting with Kejriwal, Mann said he has allowed to meet the Delhi CM, the same way he did the first time, with an iron mesh between them, which he dubbed as the “height of their (BJP’s) hatred”.

“We were separated by an iron mesh. This could be the height of their hatred. Arvind Kejriwal has asked me to tell people not to worry about him and vote. Please vote to save democracy,” Mann said.

Asked what the two leaders talked about, Mann said he informed Kejriwal of his recent visit to Gujarat where he campaigned for the party’s candidates in Bharuch and Bhavnagar.

“There was a mind-blowing response. The entire country is saying that whatever happened with Kejriwal was wrong. I also went to Assam. He asked me to come to Delhi and also campaign for INDIA bloc candidates in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and wherever I am called,” Mann said.

“These elections are not about winning or losing. It is about saving the Constitution and democracy,” he added.

Kejriwal asked about Punjab, its problems

On a personal note, Arvind Kejriwal inquired about the health and well-being of Mann infant daughter, and other family related matters.

“We talked about our families. He asked about my daughter Niyamat, who is one month old now. He asked how the farm produce has been in Punjab and if any facilities are being affected due to the Model Code of Conduct,” Mann said.

“I told him that people are getting all the facilities. I informed him that 158 children from Punjab government schools have cleared the JEE (Mains). This is the first time it has happened. He was quite happy. This was the education revolution of our dreams. He congratulated the teachers, parents and the children,” he added.

On Monday, Kejriwal’s wife Sunita and Delhi Minister Atishi met the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, who is lodged in Tihar jail under judicial custody in the alleged Delhi excise policy-linked money-laundering case since April 1.
