Pakistan has long been in the news for various incidents that have generated considerable embarrassment for the country, including the deportation of its citizens due to begging abroad, as well as accusations of having links to terrorism associated with the country. More recently, however, it seems that the scale of Pakistan’s diplomatic humiliation has increased dramatically.
At the International Peace and Confidence Forum held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, it has been reported that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif experienced a very humiliating situation while making efforts to secure a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Representatives of all member countries participating in the forum engaged in bilateral discussions. Among these discussions was a planned meeting between Shehbaz Sharif and Vladimir Putin.
Shehbaz Sharif arrived at the predetermined location on schedule. He and all of his associates waited approximately 40 minutes for Russian President Vladimir Putin to show up. President Putin was conducting a bilateral discussion with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and thus could not meet with Sharif. Once 40 minutes had elapsed, PM Sharif, with all of his team, departed from the site. It is reported that Sharif was visibly upset during this period because he had intended to request greater cooperation from Russia on several topics of significance during their meeting.
According to the Russian state-owned news agency RIA Novosti, Putin and Erdogan continued holding talks in a private setting after members of the two countries’ delegations left. “A little later, the Pakistani Prime Minister joined the meeting, having expected to negotiate with Putin in another room,” the report mentioned.
Reports cited that the Pakistani PM waited for Putin for more than 40 minutes along with his delegation, which also included Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, before deciding to gatecrash the Russian President’s meeting with his Turkish counterpart going on in another room of the Congress Centre in the capital of Turkmenistan. Pakistan PM seemed to appear frustated.
“PM Sharif waited for over 40 minutes for President Putin before growing tired and gate-crashing Russian leader’s meeting with Erdogan. He left ten minutes later,” RT India posted on X along with a video showing an impatient Sharif and the rest of the Pakistani delegation waiting anxiously for the Russian President, as cited by news agency IANS.
RT India has subsequently deleted the recording, which appears to be a deep fake, as there has been no official acknowledgment regarding the supposed incident of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stumbling into a private meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. At present, neither Russia or Pakistan has released an official statement.

The post may have been a misrepresentation of the events.
