Jharkhand: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a prosecution complaint against former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and four others at a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi on Saturday. The prosecution complaint, which runs into hundreds of pages, is in connection with a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam in Jharkhand.

Arrest, Judicial Custody Of Hemant Soren

Following his arrest by the ED on January 31, shortly after his resignation as the chief minister, Soren has been lodged at the Birsa Munda Central Jail in Hotwar, Ranchi. On February 15, Soren was remanded to judicial custody multiple times by a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court. Initially, he was granted five days of ED custody, which was later extended twice for a total of seven days. Subsequently, the court extended his judicial custody until February 22, then further extended it until March 21, and finally, his judicial custody was extended till April 4. Wife’s Meeting with Sunita Kejriwal

Kalpana Soren, the wife of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, met Sunita Kejriwal, the wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, at the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence on 6 Flagstaff Road. The meeting between Kalpana Soren and Sunita Kejriwal lasted for 15-20 minutes and took place while Hemant Soren is in custody after his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam in Jharkhand. Kalpana Soren and Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren are scheduled to attend the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc leaders’ rally on Sunday. Sunita Kejriwal is also likely to take part in the rally, according to AAP leaders.
