It would be safe to say Bollywood has focused plenty on making cult romantic films, and many of those have been pretty larger than life. With everything fantastical and magical, romantics sure are one entertaining treat. But on a more ground level, one element of a film that pretty much most common people can relate to, is friendship. The quintessential friendship movie which defined friendship of the millennial era in Bollywood. With a star cast of Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna coupled with Farhan Akhtar’s beautiful direction and a simple story about three friends, there was little that could go wrong.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013)
Kabir’s is the story of his friendship with Aditi and Avi and Naina. The movie wonderfully shows how one is alone without friends and true happiness can be found only when one’s true friends are around. This film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapur, and Kalki Koechlin is one that never gets old.
Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011)
Old friends Kabir, Imran and Arjun embark on a vacation in Spain as a bachelor’s party for Kabir who’s about to get married. The trip turns into an opportunity to mend fences, heal wounds, fall in love with life and combat their worst fears. Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, and Abhay Deol come together to create one of the most beautifully made films on life and friendship, which also starred Katrina Kaif and Kalki Koechlin.
Rock On!! (2008)
Four musician friends who fail to make it big as a band due to misunderstandings, years later come back to reignite their dream by forgetting their woes and embark on a journey they had left incomplete. Starring Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal, and Purab Kohli this film literally succeeded in hitting the right chords with the crowds.
Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na (2008)
The story of Aditi, Jay and their friends, Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is certainly close to all our hearts since everyone of us can find something to relate to from one of the characters of the film. Imran Khan had a dream debut with this classic alongside Genelia D’Souza.
Kai Po Che (2013)
The story of three friends who start a sports shop and an academy to train budding cricketers. To realise their goals in a turbulent city, they together face religious disparities, politics, riots and earthquakes. Marking the debut of Sushant Singh Rajput, the film also starred Rajkummar Rao and Amit Sadh in lead roles.
3 Idiots (2009)
The story of two friends who track down a long lost friend who back in college, helped change their lives. Setting critical and commercial standards, this Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi masterpiece is still regarded as one of the best films made in Indian film industry.
