Himachal Pradesh Lok Sabha Elections: Himachal Pradesh is home to four Lok Sabha constituencies – Mandi, Hamirpur, Kangra, and Shimla. The Congress party, which is in control of Himachal Pradesh, and the BJP are expected to square off in the upcoming elections. Additionally, the Bahujan Samaj Party has put forward candidates for each of the four seats.
According to early trends, the incumbent Lok Sabha candidate from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur constituency, the Minister of Information and Broadcasting in India, is also expected to win the general elections in 2024.
Since 2009, Mr. Thakur has completed three consecutive terms as the Lok Sabha representative from Hamirpur. In the 2008 by-election, he was first chosen to be an MP. He will fight with INC’s candidate Satpal Raizada.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Himachal Pradesh likewise had a decline in voter turnout, which went from 72.42% in 2019 to 68.48% this year. The Congress claims that when a persistent monsoon last year knocked the hill state to its knees by causing significant damage to life and property, the BJP-led Union government failed to stand with the people of the State in their hour of need.
