Nuh communal violence
Meanwhile, the Nuh Police said tight security arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth passage of Braj Mandal Yatra through the communally-sensitive district which became ground zero for a wave of communal clashes which swept several Haryana districts last year.
On July 31, last year, communal violence erupted in Haryana’s Nuh district after a mob attempted to halt a procession organised by right-wing group Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP). The mob pelted stones on security personnel and set several vehicles on fire, resulting in the deaths of two home guards and injuries to at least 15 others, including several policemen.
The violence escalated further after a mob attacked a mosque in Gurugram and killed a Muslim preacher on the same night.
At least five people were killed and scores injured in the immediate aftermath of the communal clash.
