New Delhi: Rajdhani Express is one of India’s premier premium train services. It is a superfast and fully air-conditioned train operated by Indian Railways, connecting the country’s capital, New Delhi, with various state capitals and major cities. Indian Railways started operating the Rajdhani Express train in 1969.

Over time, this project has expanded to include more than 20 Rajdhani trains operating on various routes. The first-ever Rajdhani Express on the Indian Railways network, which continues to symbolize top-tier travel, operated between New Delhi and Howrah. Rajdhani Express remains one of the premium trains on the Indian Railways network.

The Rajdhani Express, India’s fastest train, was introduced in 1972. The train travels through several states, including Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra, and connects Mumbai and New Delhi.

Here are some of the key details:

• The Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express covers 1,384 km in 15 hours and 32 minutes.
• The AK Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12953) and the CSMT-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express (Train No. 22221) are the next fastest trains on this route
• The train covers nearly the same distance in 16 hours and 33 minutes and 17 hours and 55 minutes, respectively.
• The Mumbai-New Delhi Rajdhani Express, also known as the Mumbai-New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express (Train No. 12951/12952), holds the title of the fastest Rajdhani service in India, reaching a maximum speed of 140 km/h.

The train number 12951 leaves Mumbai Central at 17:00 and arrives in New Delhi at 08:32.  Train number 12952 leaves New Delhi at 16:55 on its way back and arrives at Mumbai Central at 08:35.
