Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl was killed allegedly by an engineering student after she rejected his advances on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Thursday. The boy named Aravind slit the throat of Class 10 student Nikita after he forcefully entered her home and had a heated argument with her. As per reports, the boy had been stalking the girl for a long time.

The accused attacked the girl while she was alone at her home in Telangana’s Sanga Reddy district. The girl cried for help but succumbed to her injuries by the time neighbours came and rushed her to the hospital. The girl died at a hospital in Kukatpally as she had bled profusely.

The accused who is a third-year student of engineering in Nanded town of Maharashtra was beaten by the locals and was then handed over to the police. The police said that the accused told them that the girl had been ignoring him but she spoke with other boys and that really angered him.

Cases as such have increased over time in Hyderabad. In all these cases, the women became a victim after they not reciprocated the advances by men who stalked or harassed them. Earlier this month, a boy brutally killed a 17-year-old girl at Railway Quarters of Osmania University area.

Apparently, the boy developed a friendship with the girl who was studying in the second year of the intermediate class. Later, he fell in love with her and used to chase her quite often. The girl when warned him not to chase her, slit her throat with a razor blade.

In yet another case, which took place earlier this year, a 24-year-old was killed by her jilted lover over refusing his marriage proposal. Similarly, a 20-year-old was murdered in broad daylight by a man she had known for past years.

In June, another girl was killed when her throat was slashed in full public view, in broad daylight in Telangana’s Karimnagar allegedly by a man she had reportedly known for the last three years.
