Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Saturday detained an 18-year-old man from Jalaun district in the state for allegedly making threat calls to blow up Miami airport in the US. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
“I will come with AK47, grenade, suicide belt and kill everyone,” the man, whose identity was not disclosed, said in his calls.
According to UP DGP OP Singh, the man made five threat calls to the authorities at Miami airport in the month of October. “On the basis of input from NIA, we detained a 18-yr-old man from Jalaun yesterday, for making threat calls to attack US’s Miami airport. The calls were made 5 times in October. During interrogation, he confessed to making those those calls,” he said.
Briefing about the matter, IG ATS Asim Arun informed that a legal action was initiated against him. The accused had purchased Bitcoins worth USD 1,000 but someone duped him, following which he lodged a complaint with the FBI, but did not get a desired response. Following this, he made several calls to the Miami airport and threatened to attack it, Arun claimed. The FBI talked to the man but he continued making threat calls using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) from October 2 till October 31, he said.
The man will be chargesheeted in court. The IG ATS informed that Section 41A of the CrPC does not require arrest.
