Mumbai, Sept 12: The TADA court on Tuesday sentenced Riyaz Siddiqui to life imprisonment in the Pradeep Jain murder case. Siddiqui was earlier last week sentenced to 10 years in jail in the 1993 Bombay blasts case. The court had already sentenced gangster Abu Salem and his driver Mehdi Hassan to life imprisonment in the Jain murder case.

Highlights

  • Mumbai builder Pradeep Jain was murdered in 1995
  • Jain had refused to give away his huge property to Abu Salem

Siddiqui was convicted last month by a special court for the 1995 murder of Mumbai-based builder Pradeep Jain. Siddiqui’s trial ran separate as he turned approver, but later, was declared a “hostile witness” by the prosecution during his deposition.

Pradeep Jain was shot dead outside his Juhu bungalow in 1995 after he allegedly refused to give away his huge property to Salem. Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam had sought life sentence for Riyaz Siddiqui in the case.

Nikam conceded while arguing before TADA court Judge GA Sanap that the case did not fall in the “rarest of rare” category. Hence, the prosecution was seeking life imprisonment for Siddiqui, he said.
