2 Indians killed in Kabul blast: Ministry of External Affairs

Both the deceased were travelling along with the team of Nepali security guards, whose bus was blown up by Talibani suicide bomber.

New Delhi, June 20: At least 22 people were killed in two separate terror attacks in Afghanistan on Monday. As per latest reports, 2 Indians have been confirmed dead in the attack. The report of Indians being killed in the attack has been verified by Ministry of External Affairs. The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Thapa and Govind Singh. Both of them belonged to Dehradun region.

“We have learnt that 2 Indian nationals, Ganesh Thapa and Govind Singh from Dehradun died tragically in the blast in Kabul today morning. Government is in touch with families of Indian nationals and is working with the Afghan government to repatriate their mortal remains at the earliest,” said MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup. (Also Read: Kabul Minibus Blast: 14 dead, dozens injured; Taliban takes responsibility for suicide attack in Afghanistan)

Both the deceased were travelling along with the team of Nepali security guards, whose bus was blown up by Taliban suicide bomber. 12 other Nepali nationals died in the explosion.

Apart from the suicide blast, a motor bike was used for explosion in northern province of Badakhshan region killing at least eight civilians. The blast occurred in a heavily populated market area.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sympathies with the people of Afghanistan and Nepal. He also extended his condolences to Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and his Nepali counterpart K P Oli.
