New Delhi, May 26: Even as the Bharatiya Janata Party and its supporters are celebrating two years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in power, the Congress has come other plans. The workers of the Grand Old Party is planning a counter campaign, with the aim of highlighting the ‘misrule’ of the National Democratic Alliance government. The party has planned a media offensive of sorts on the saffrn party, which includes a series of press conferences by the senior leaders in more than 3o cities, a booklet about how the Modi government did not make good on its poll promises and even a short film!

According to a report in the Indian Express, the ‘media blitz’ will be a frontal attack on the government, and will attempt to spread the message of the ‘failure’ of the Modi government amongst the people. The offensive will be unleashed in the coming three days, as the government celebrates its two years in power, after it won a major victory, forming a majority government at the center after a long period of time. Top Congress leaders including leaders of Opposition in the Parliament Mallikarjun Kharge and Ghulam Nabi Azad, will be a part of the offensive, and will hold press conferences in as many as 27 cities, starting today. ALSO READ: 2 years of Modi government: 5 reasons why India Inc loves Prime Minister Narendra Modi

The press conferences will also have the short film being played. According to the report, the theme chosen by the Congress for the offensive is ‘Pragati ki thamm gayi chaal, desh ka bura haal’. Party spokesperson Randeep Surjewala told the Express, “Two years on, the Modi government has utterly and completely failed on the single-most important index of development. The government has become a government of rhetoric and theatrics…. Two key issues missing are governance and development.”
