2019 Pulwama Attack: NIA Arrests Father-Daughter Duo From Lethpora in Jammu And Kashmir

This is the second arrest in the case after that of Shakir Magrey, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) over-ground worker (OGW), who sheltered Adil Ahmed Dar, the Pulwama bomber.

Pulwama Terror Attack of February 14, 2019.

New Delhi: In a major development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which is probing the 2019 Pulwama suicide attack case, on Tuesday arrested a father-daughter duo from Jammu and Kashmir’s Lethpora. This is the second arrest in the case by the NIA which, on February 28, made its first arrest by arresting Shakir Magrey, a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) over-ground worker (OGW), who sheltered Adil Ahmed Dar, the Pulwama bomber.

The NIA had registered a case in connection with the attack, more than a year ago.

The father-daughter duo was identified as Tariq Ahmed Shah and Insha Tariq. They were arrested in early morning hours of Tuesday after an NIA team raided their house late last night. The arrests were made on the revelations by Magrey, who, the day he was arrested, was sent to 15-day NIA custody by a special NIA court.

During interrogation, Tariq disclosed that his house at Hakripora, Pulwama was used by terrorists for shelter and planning of the attack on the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy.

More arrests are expected to be made in the coming days.

Magrey, meanwhile, is accused of giving shelter to Dar and a Pakistani terrorist Mohammed Umar Farooq in his house from late 2018 till the attack in February 2019 and assisting them in the preparation of the Improvised Explosive Device (IED).

A cousin of Dar was arrested in January after an encounter in Nagrota.

Over 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers were martyred in the suicide attack on February 14, 2019. The Indian Air Force (IAF) on February 26, responded by bombing a Jaish camp in Pakistan’s Balakot, prompting an aerial battle with the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) a day later.
