A 23-year-old MBBS student from Jagannath Pahadia Medical College was found dead in his hostel room in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district on Friday morning, in what police suspect to be a case of suicide. The student, identified as Aviral Saini from Alwar, was in his third year of medical studies and was supposed to appear for his final exam later that day.
According to police, when Aviral’s friends went to wake him up, his room on the second floor was locked from the inside. After repeated knocks went unanswered, they peered through the window and saw him hanging from the ceiling fan.
Soon after, the college authorities and police arrived at the spot. Police searched the room but did not find any suicide note. He was immediately taken to RBM Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead. The body has been kept in the Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
Shree Jagannath Pahadia Medical College principal Ajay Kukreja said that the “student was in depression due to poor performance in examination.”
The body has been sent for postmortem, and police said an investigation is underway to determine the cause behind the incident.
