New Delhi, June 24: Commander of the Srinagar headquartered 15 Corps in Baramulla, Lt. General Anil Kumar Bhatt said that at least 250 to 275 active militants are present in the Kashmir Valley as of today. He also added that as many as 270 militants are also on launch pads. Moreover nearly 30 militants are ready to cross over to Kashmir from the Pakistan Side. Lt. General Bhatt said that the GOC 15 Corps were fighting to eliminate militancy from the Valley. He added that the Indian Army was taking all sorts of measures to check militancy in the Valley as it wants peace and stability for the Kashmiri brethren. Bhatt further said that National Security Guard (NSG) commandos too will work with the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) police to fight militancy in the Kashmir Valley. Speaking on the issue of militancy, Bhatt said that J&K wouldn’t have any footprints of the Islamic State. He said that recently a small faction of the JKIS was eliminated and so will the others. Lt. General Bhatt was also asked about the the videos surfacing on social media that portrayed Indian Army in a poor light. Bhatt termed these videos of Army’s torture and blasting of houses which has been doing rounds as fake and a gimmick of Pakistan to earn sympathy at the global level. He said that Pakistan wants to sabotage the situation in Kashmir by playing the victim card at the UN conference which is scheduled to take place next month.
Lt. General Anil Kumar Bhatt congratulated Army’s 19 Division and Baramulla police for organising youth festival 2018. The event saw Irfan Pathan and Bollywood actress Gowhar Khan as guests and Bhatt praised the presence of these celebrities. He said both were youth icons and it was a programme for the youth wherein the youth sould take inspiration from them and try to be as successful as them.
