26 Aam Aadmi Party MLA’s never went to college

23 of AAP lawmakers have only passed different levels of school exams. The other three, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia only have a diploma degree.

New Delhi, June 17: Last month, Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal launched several attacks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his college degrees. A closer look at the election affidavits of Aam Aadmi Party MLAs reveals that 26 of them never went to college.

In fact, 23 of AAP lawmakers have only passed different levels of school exams. The other three, including Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia only have a diploma degree, Zee News reported. Sisodia’s highest qualification is the diploma degree he received in Journalism from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan. The three MLAs that have a diploma degree include Deputy CM Sisodia, Rituraj Govind from Kirari constituency and Kartar Singh Tanwar from Chhatarpur constituency. Govind has an Advance Diploma in Hotel Management from Monarch International College of Hotel Management, Australia whereas Tanwar has a Diploma in Civil Engineering from G.B. Pant Polytechnic, Okhla. Of the three opposition MLAs, there is a post-graduate and graduate, both from BJP.

Recently, while speaking in defence of the 21 AAP MLAs, who may face disqualification due to their appointment as Parliamentary Secretary, he said, “Our MLAs are educated and very well qualified”.

The AAP Supremo has often boasted about how his ministers have left lucrative jobs to come and serve the people. On Sunday, He reiterated this while taking a jibe at the Bhartiya Janata Party. “They are highly qualified people in different fields, starting from MBA to engineering and not illiterates like in other parties.”

The Aam Admi Party has an absolute majority with 67 MLAs in Delhi’s 70-seat Legislative Assembly. Out these, 16 MLAs or 24% are graduates, seven or 10 per cent are graduate professionals (including CM Kejriwal), and 20 lawmakers (30 per cent) are post graduates. The remaining MLAs that don’t have a college degree, three have diplomas.
