2G Scam Verdict Reactions: Kanimozhi Thanks Supporters; Kapil Sibal Says Zero Loss Theory Vindicated

New Delhi, Dec 21: A special CBI court on Thursday acquitted all the accused in the alleged Rs 1.76 lakh-crore 2G scam. The court said that the CBI failed to prove any charge against the accused that included DMK leaders A Raja and Kanimozhi. The verdict has created a ripple effect in the political circle as Congress leaders have said that their contention that there was no scam was vindicated by the court. Prominent lawyer and Congress leader, Kapil Sibal said that he had earlier noted that there was no loss, but his zero loss theory was mocked at by the opposition parties and online trolls. He further said that it was a scam by former CAG Vinod Rai, who first wrote about ‘presumptive’ loss in his annual report.

Former Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the report of a scam was not true and was not correct– the court’s decision established this fact. (Also read: Prosecution Has Miserably Failed, Said Judge While Acquitting All in 2G Case)

“Allegation of a major scam involving the highest levels of Government was never true, was not correct and that has been established today,” he said.

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that the court found that innocent people were wronged.

“Clearly the Court found that innocent people have been wronged. Justice has worked as it is supposed to work in our country,” he said.

A relieved Kanimozhi thanked the court with folded hands inside the premises. After coming out, she thanked people who stood by her.

“Victory begins now. With political motives this case was put in us. Conspiracies were hatched against us but all have been blown away now,” Durai Murugan, Senior DMK Leader, told ANI.

“The Court said that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove any of its charge. Thus all accused are acquitted: Vijay Aggarwal, Lawyer of Swan Telecom promoters Shahid Usman Balwa, Vinod Goenka said.
