Islamabad, January 24: Powerful tremors of earthquake were felt in Swat valley and surrounding areas of Malkand and Chitral in Northern Pakistan. The tremors were felt on Sunday morning. The magnitude of earthquake was noted 5.2 at Richter Scale, said a report released by meteorological department. Last year in October a massive earthquake of 7.5 magnitude shattered Swat valley and several regions adjoining to the area. Although the earthquake of 5.2 magnitude are not considered that destructive, however high alert has been issued in Pakistan and its neighbouring country Afghanistan.

Residents of Swat, which is occupied by Taliban was under panic after the tremors felt in the region. Security forces were also kept on stand by if emergency like situation takes place.
