77-year-old Woman Raped in Hyderabad; Accused Hit Her on Head With an Axe

A case of rape and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused. Police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

Hyderabad, March 6:  A daily wage labourer allegedly raped a 77-year-old woman at her residence in Hyderabad on Monday. The 22-year-old assailant allegedly hit her head with an axe and a stick before fleeing the spot.

The accused has been identified as P Vamshi. On Monday afternoon, he allegedly noticed the woman alone in her house when he was on way to his place. He barged into her house and raped her. The accused injured her seriously.

Victim’s grandson took her to the hospital with the help of neighbours. The police said that the assailant was identified with the help of CCTV footage installed in the vicinity.
